Short answer: Unlock the domain and get the EPP code at your current registrar, then enter the domain and code in your akthost client area and approve the transfer.
At your current registrar
- Log in and find your domain.
- Turn off the registrar lock (also called transfer lock).
- Ask for the EPP code (also called auth code). It is sent to the owner's email.
- Make sure the contact email on the domain is correct and reachable.
Start the transfer
Log in to your client area and use the domain transfer option. Type the domain name, enter the EPP code when asked, and complete the order. Watch your email for approval requests and approve them.
After the transfer
Lock the domain again in your client area. Check your nameservers.

Questions people ask
How long does a transfer take?
Often a few days. The old registrar may ask you to approve the transfer by email.
Will my website go down?
No, if you do not change nameservers during the transfer. A transfer only moves the registration.
My domain was registered less than 60 days ago.
Most domain types cannot be transferred in the first 60 days after registration or a recent transfer.
